New snippet from The Sealed Door this is an important part of the story ...........

I put lots of excerpts, and free chapters up on my blog and website, as well as Amazon, Smashwords and I believe Barnes and Noble, give readers the chance to sample a book.
There are five chapters of The Seven Spell, which is book three, in The Seven Spell Saga, in PDF form to download and read on my website
I think it's good for people to have that chance to read something of the books before they buy.
I do have a problem though finding excerpts, and snippets that are not spoilers, because the books are quite dynamic, and plot heavy so chapters are easier as I can just give away the first two or three, or as I said five, for book three.
Here is a snippet from The Sealed Door book four, it's an important part of the story because of what happens directly after.
I went quickly to the side of the door, and detoured around as I had planned, when I reached the open path I ran home. I ran thinking, he called her darling, he said it out loud to her, he had kept it in his head for me. Had he gone to her as soon as he left me last night, and the night before, had he stayed until dawn because he wanted to? Was I jealous, I hurt , I did hurt because it seemed to me then, that everything he had said to me the night before had been untrue. I hurt because of that, because of everything we had said last night, and then he had gone to Anna. Had he just ignored my texts today because he was with Anna? He called her darling. I ran around the side of the house, I was out of breath from the icy air, and from running all the way home, I ran out of the side path, and onto the drive and straight into Oliver.
“Chloe, what are you doing, what’s happening, are you ok?” he had me in his arms and I was standing there just looking at him. Oliver was there, had he arrived early, I wasn’t thinking very straight. “Have you come around early Oliver?” I asked him trying to catch my breath. He looked puzzled and frowned slightly, and then he looked amused, “What’s going on Chloe have you been running around the outside of the house for some reason?” I took his hand, “Oliver sort of, I just ran a little down the garden; I thought I heard a car, are you early?”
He smiled, “I was working on a web page and suddenly I saw your picture on my desk, and I just wanted to be with you, I thought hell I’ll go now, I’m only a couple of hours early, is it ok, are you going somewhere?” he looked me up and down seeing my coat and scarf. I shook my head, “No I’m not, Oliver its lovely to see you. Come in, I’m so glad you came around early it’s so nice to see you”.
I stopped talking and let us in the front door, still getting my breath back. The house was warm and we took our coats off, I threw them over the back of a chair and turned to Oliver. He hugged me, “Chloe are you sure you are ok, you seem totally spooked, or something, I don’t know. What is it?”
This is the fourth book in the saga, there is a preface which introduces the beginning of the book and a short piece from the third book so this book whilst being within a series can be read alone.

Snippet two from The Seven Spell Saga books; comes from the new release The Sealed Door

Here is the second snippet from a book in The Seven Spell Saga,
The Sealed Door, new release and book four in the saga, will surprise you.
In this book we hear new voices, those of Oliver Tarrant and Tristan Dearing.
So far the book has received five star reviews on Amazon.

She smiled when I mentioned Oliver and said softly, “Forgive me but I thought you and Tristan were together?”
I couldn’t be explaining things to Lily as much as I liked her. I shook my head, “It’s all a bit complicated”. I was remembering the dream anyway and felt slightly awkward as I looked at her earnest blue eyes.
She didn’t continue but stood up from the table, “I better go and finish packing up my stuff”, she smiled, and thanking me for the tea, she headed down to the big drawing room.
I considered going up to my room to do some college work but decided against it, checking if Steven had laundry and thinking about what mom had wanted me to do. I was loading a wash into the machine in the utility room, when the real little white cat appeared. It rubbed itself against my boots and I stroked its ears, they were soft as silk. I talked to it as it followed me around the place until I had finished the tidy up I was doing.
“You were in my dream last night cat, and it was quite weird, did you know in my dream you could talk, that’s funny huh?” I told it, as it sprang up onto the utility room sink draining board. It sat down and watched me, I told it not to come into my dreams again thank you very much, but that it could hang around the house if it wanted to. I stroked it again, it was real and soft and somehow comforting that it was just an ordinary but really pretty cat.

Look out for another snippet later this week.

Snippet one; from The Seven Spell book three in The Seven Spell saga

I decided to start a snippet series on my blog. It will feature small excerpts from The Seven Spell Saga books. There is a danger of longer excerpts being spoilers when your books have so much happening in them, and so I thought this might be a good way of giving a taste of the books, without the longer excerpts I have been publishing.
Snippet one is from the third book in the saga; The Seven Spell available on Amazon.

The bell rang as I was just about to open the door, and when I did I was surprised to find it was Laura.

Saying hello I took her into the kitchen firstly offering her tea or coffee, she said she was fine and was not intending to stay long. I didn’t want to straight ask her what she wanted, and said come and sit in the sun then, forcing her to follow me by going out of the French windows to the kitchen patio.

She sat down and launched into it, “Chloe, I’ve come to see you because of Emma, I hope you will not be offended and I was debating should I come and see you or not, all morning and then I decided to. I’ll come straight to the point”, she said at the same time as plucking a leaf from the plant that was most reachable from where she sat.

“Emma is in love with Tristan, and I think he very much likes her too”. She was folding the leaf into a fan shape as she spoke, “the thing is, I think, well Emma thinks that you need to let Tristan go, if you do, then she is sure he will come to her, because he loves her really, its just that you are holding onto him. I mean really Chloe, you have Oliver, maybe you just need to cut Tristan free and let him find someone else. Well Emma that is”.

The leaf was letting out some kind of sap onto her fingers as she folded and unfolded it. Her perfectly manicured fingers had some green juice now down a couple of cuticles, and she took a deep breath. “I think he could love Emma if you let him go, and she is such a lovely girl and it would be good for him to be loved”. She stopped talking and looked up at me, putting the leaf down on the garden table.

I took a deep breath and looked at her, I wanted her to see how sincere I was, and I tried to put it in my voice too, for some reason it was really important to me that she understand that. “Laura, I don’t need to cut Tristan free, he is already free, I would never, have never, stopped him from seeing Emma or anyone else for that matter, on the contrary” I stopped speaking because she was looking at me sceptically, and it was just like she was saying I was telling a lie.

Looking for inspiration for my book covers in the rain and the sun and the rain and the sun....................

As I mentioned in an earlier post I recently went off on a trip to find inspiration for my book covers. In England, United Kingdom where castles, ruins of castles and abbeys litter the ground LOL

It was a nice day when I set off and I was travelling a couple of hundred miles that day. I reached Porchester Castle in the sun and began my photography.
In a matter of five minutes, it began to rain and didn’t stop until I reached home a day later.
I did have a great time at Porchester and the next day Pevensey Castle and Battle Abbey where I also saw the actual battlefield of the Battle of Hastings.
I couldn’t resist taking photographs of everything but the raindrops on my camera lens are evident in my pictures.
I do have some very atmospheric pictures for the next time I am designing and producing a book cover.
All my books have book covers that I have produced using photographs of the places I have visited, I enjoy this aspect of publishing my books, but I produce different versions and often have trouble deciding which ones I like best.
I always hope I have chosen the right cover and that the  idea of judging a book by its cover is not true, that people do read the blurbs and excerpts to decide if they want to read the whole book or not.
I know I do.
On my trip, I lost the detachable hood of one of my sweatshirts because it was so wet having found it in a puddle in the ruins of King Richard Second I threw it into a litterbin there. I was just so wet.
I saw an actual oubliette something I have not seen before, naturally, there was a grill over it. The dungeons at Pevensey were flooded from the rain so I didn’t get down there, but I still had a great time floating about the atmospheric ruins of Battle Abbey.
I did get some pictures before the rain and they are in new album on The Seven Spell Saga Facebook page

Sometimes I go off looking for inspiration for book covers

A new album of photos has been added to The Seven Spell Saga facebook page.
